Intensive Figure Painting and Drawing Workshop: June 23 - July 4 2014, Vancouver, Canada
The first week of this 2-week intensive workshop will focus on figure drawing as well as alla prima oil painting. Learning to see and structure the essential masses of the figure is key to building solid figures in space. Using 1, 2, and 3-hour poses, anatomy, value study, paint handling and palette organization will be the main subjects of this first week.
The second week will then focus on 2 long, sustained poses (approximately 15 hours each), one male and one female. Building upon the mass conceptions from the first week, longer poses will allow for more in-depth observation, notably concerning color nuances and form variations. As opposed to the alla prima techniques of the first week, week 2 will teach how to paint in a layered process with appropriate mediums.
Class size for this course will be very small thus allowing many individual critiques and demonstrations on a daily basis. Hosted by Northwest Fine Art Studio.
